long_day.jpgLast Saturday the "young turks" at Geelong Gliding Club based at Bacchus Marsh organised a dawn to dusk flying day.

Dawn was at 6.00 AM and the first launch was at 6.10. BBQ breakfast and lunch were provided at nominal cost along with festive treats like turkey rolls and mince pies. Both winch and aero tows were available and all enjoyed the day. Some members of the other Bacchus clubs, VMFG and Beaufort, also took the opportunity to have some winch launches. Apart from the flying it turned into a social occasion.

As the sun was slowly sinking into the west at about 20.40 the last launch was done and when complete and the aircraft were safely put away all retired to the clubhouse to celebrate what was a great days flying.

No records set but there were almost 70 launches done of which about 40 were by winch, and as things turned out our youngest member, Ailsa, had both the first and last launch of the day.
